Didn’t die? Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, used his official Facebook account to announce some details about the company’s third-quarter results in 2023, and among them, he revealed that Threads has a monthly reach of nearly 100 million active users.

Meta’s newest social network was launched on July 5, 2023, with the aim of directly competing with X, formerly known as Twitter, and quickly gained millions of users. However, the initial enthusiasm began to wane within the first month of the social network’s launch, and it saw a 70% drop in engagement.
Since then, Meta has been developing a series of improvements and new features for the platform, ranging from basics like a chronological feed, something heavily requested by users at the time, to audio-based posts.
Moreover, many tests and innovations are revealed on a weekly basis, such as a potential future “trending topic” on the social network to compete more closely with X.
Now, Zuckerberg has revealed that he is very pleased with Threads’ progress and even asserts his confidence that the social network will reach the milestone of one billion users in the coming years. Check it out:
“I want to give a quick update on Threads. We’re three months in, and I’m very happy with the trajectory. There are just under 100 million monthly actives at this point, and we’re now getting to the point where we’re going to really focus on growing the community even more. From what we can tell, people love it so far. I’ve long thought there should be a public conversation app for billions of people that’s a little more positive, and I think if we keep on this for a few more years, we have a good shot at getting there.”
